Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or LCVP or FETAC/QQI Level 4 Award. Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet these entry requirements.
This course is designed to give students a firm foundation in the skills necessary for a career in interior architecture. Students will gain design, representation and analytical skills in a studio-based environment. There is a strong emphasis on problem solving, including the ability to think creatively, three-dimensionally and technically. Students will gain exposure to skills relating to the construction, refurbishment, retrofit and fit-out of both new and existing buildings. Design communication skills will enable students to draw and communicate using conventional hand-drawing techniques, 2D AutoCAD and 2D/3D Parametric CAD.

Graduates of this course will have the skills necessary to pursue a career in architecture, interior design and interior architecture. The course may also appeal to those interested in working on a self-employed basis, working in retail display or working in design industries.
At Cavan Institute: Graduates of this course may progress to the Level 6 FETAC/QQI course in Architectural Technology and Design at Cavan Institute.
Elsewhere: Graduates are also eligible to apply through the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to year one of a range of higher certificate and degree programmes at Institutes of Technology and Universities (please check with the particular institution regarding local eligibility requirements).
