ACTIVE ROLE FOR CAVAN INSTITUTE IN EUROPEAN LEARNING AND EMPLOYMENT NETWORK PROJECT

Cavan Institute is involved in an innovative European Union funded partnership project under the
Lifelong Learning Programme. Partnership projects are about co-operation and exchange of information at a European level. The funding available allows Cavan Institute to work with partners from across Europe to share good practice, discuss problems and compare solutions on the development of transEuropean exchanges. A Leonardo da Vinci Partnership is a framework for small-scale cooperation activities between organisations working in the field of vocational education and training ("VET") which will be cooperating on themes of mutual interest to the participating organisations. Project Partners work on a specific topic or theme and are able to visit each other to share their experiences and practices.

The "LEarning and EMployment NETwork" (LEEMNET) project, (LLP/LdV/PA/2008/IRL-PP05) consists of 3 partners: LEB Thuringen e.V. (Germany), Cavan Institute (Ireland) and Universus Csei (Italy) representing training organization, SMEs and regional employers. There are several common themes between Partners taking part in this Partnership:

* Disadvantaged status, regional focus, economic and business environment
* No focus on the uptake of transnational exchanges
* Lack of knowledge on the potential for placements and the benefit of placements.

The main aim of the Partnership is the establishment of networks within countries and between countries to increase the number of transnational mobilities.

The Partnership will focus on involving learners, trainers and local employers into transnational project meetings to let them TOGETHER experience the meaning of a transnational placement and to support them to multiply that experience.

The main outcomes of this Partnership projects are:

* The development of a NETWORK to SUPPORT partnerships
* Development of transnational placements opportunities
* Promotion of Leonardo opportunities
* Involvement of business community in the regions.
