Mature Applicants
Cavan Institute welcomes mature applicants who wish to return to full-time education. Such applicants may not be required to have the minimum entry requirements. The Institute will look for satisfactory evidence of the applicants ability to pursue and benefit from the course. Mature applicants should apply online to the Institute and may be required to attend for interview as part of the selection process.

International Applicants
We welcome applications from International Students. Cavan Institute seeks to provide an atmosphere where the international student can benefit both academically and personally from their time here. International students should contact our administrative office for further information.

Applicants with Special Needs
Cavan Institute has a wealth of experience built up over a number of years in supporting students with disabilities. This support can take a variety of forms - from providing personal assistants, specialised equipment and particular computer software to mention but a few.

Students with a disability may qualify for non-standard entry if, because of their disability, learning difficulty or health difficulty, they cannot compete equally in the Leaving Certificate examination and, as a result, do not meet the admission criteria. The arrangements for non-standard entry are determined on an individual basis so that full consideration can be given to each individual student.

The phrase 'people with disabilities' includes people with physical disabilities, people who are visually impaired; people who are deaf or hard of hearing; people with specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, people with mental health problems and people with significant health or medical problems. The definition extends to any person who requires extra support in order to participate equally at the Institute.
