MEN’S GAELIC FOOTBALL
The men compete in division 2 of the higher education league and also the Trench Cup. Cavan Institute is the only further education institute in the country competing at this level.

LADIES’ GAELIC FOOTBALL
Cavan Institute ladies’ team participates in division 3 of the higher education league. The
2013/14 season proved to be very successful for the ladies in term of participation levels, with large numbers attending training and games.
Cavan Institute men’s soccer team is affiliated to the Football Association of Ireland (FAI). They participate in division 3 of the Institutes FAI. Institute soccer players are eligible to play for the National Colleges Team in international competitions.
The ladies camogie team had a fantastic year in 2013/14. They first won the Ulster Further Education 9-a-side title and followed that up by winning the inaugural Cavan Institute Super 7s competition which was attended by 11 colleges and universities and over 150 students. This particular event which aims to promote Camogie and Hurling will be an annual event on the Institute sporting calendar.
Students have the opportunity of representing the Institute at the intervarsity boxing championships which are held annually at the National Boxing Stadium. In 2013/14 the Institute had one female boxer represent the Institute at this event and one other male boxer who was selected to represent Ireland in a four man boxing team in London in February 2014. Students interested in representing Cavan Institute at any college boxing event must be a member of boxing club and have considerable experience in boxing at national level.
Members of the club compete in the all-Ireland colleges singles and team competitions and they have a track record of success.
The first ever hurling team at the Institute competed in the inaugural Super 7s competition in December 2013. A number of training sessions were also held during the year in conjunction with the Cavan County Board’s hurling development officer and it is hoped to develop this further in 2014/15.
