Course Description
Working with Dermologica, Decleor and Yonka products, students gain exceptional experience in this dynamic industry. This course is very intensive and a high level of commitment is essential. Work experience in beauty therapy is an integral part of the course. Students are required to both carry out and receive all treatments as part of the practical training. 

Progressing from year 1 to year 2, students will advance their professional skills further and add to their existing qualifications. CIDESCO is the highest and most recognised qualification worldwide. Cavan Institute has been a registered CIDESCO school for 20 years.  Students actively participate in the Salon on campus and gain experience practicing treatments and developing existing skills to salon standard.

  • Manicure, pedicure and waxing
  • Professional Conduct and Business Awareness

  • Facial electrical machines

Course Content - Year 2
  • Work experience - There may be an opportunity to complete work placement abroad as part of the Erasmus Programme. 
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Microdermabrasion and laser IPL (Students can only advance to this subject on achieving a pass in their QQI Electrical Epilation in first year)
  • Nail technology
  • Body electrical machines
  • Body massage and figure analysis

Career Opportunities
Students who successfully complete this course may obtain positions as beauty therapists in beauty salons, hotel and destination spas, health farms, and in the leisure industry, sales representatives and trainers for beauty products. Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or LCVP or QQI Level 4 Award. Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet these entry requirements. Progression to year 2 is dependent upon successful completion of year 1 and satisfactory attendance during year 1.

Additional Requirements
Students must meet all the necessary criteria as stipulated by the international examination bodies, these include completion of required course hours and specific project work.
Students on the course must purchase their uniform and professional work kits.
All examination and kit fees are payable prior to course commencement.
