Course Description
This course is aimed at students who are interested in pursuing a career as a professional accountant. The key attribute the marketplace now seeks in a professional accountant is the ability to influence business at a strategic level. This course is tailored to meet that need. The CPA Syllabus balances an appropriate emphasis on strategy, ethics and governance with the fundamental components of auditing, taxation, finance and performance reporting.

      The course will be structured as follows:
      Formation 2 – Mondays
      Professional 1 – Mondays and Saturdays

      Registration Details and Exemptions
      All students should register with CPA as well as Cavan Institute. To register with the CPA visit www.studycpa.ie for more information. Exemptions from some of the CPA examinations may be granted to students who have already passed equivalent examinations. These are granted on a subject-for-subject basis. Details are available on the CPA website www.cpaireland.ie.

      The course positions newly qualified Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) as team players with all the essential technical skills and capacity to operate at a strategic level, capable of understanding and contributing towards every facet of business including entrepreneurial activity, practice and public service.

      Entry Requirements
      Graduates of the accounting technician course and other related courses are eligible to apply. Such applicants should check with the CPA for exemptions. Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet these entry requirements.
