Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or LCVP or QQI Level 4 Award. Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet these entry requirements. 

Further Study

At Cavan Institute: 

Graduates of this course in Beauty Therapy (Year 1) may progress to the level 6 Beauty Therapy (Year 2) course. 


Elsewhere: 

Graduates of this course in Beauty Therapy (Year 1) are eligible to apply through the CAO and the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to a range of higher certificate and degree programmes at Institutes of Technology and Universities (please check with the particular institution regarding local eligibility requirements).

Career Opportunities

Graduates may pursue a career in one of the many sectors of the beauty industry, including in beauty salons and nail bars, on cosmetic counters, and as product representatives and skincare consultants. About This Course

Working with world renowned professional skincare products, such as Dermalogica, students gain invaluable practical experience and essential skills for working in the beauty industry. There is a strong emphasis on theory as well as practical work and a high level of commitment is required. Students complete case studies on guest clients for each module, performing facial, waxing, manicure, pedicure, epilation and make up treatments. They also carry out work experience in a beauty salon/health spa of their choice, where they get a true insight into the professional beauty industry.
