Make-up Artistry

Working full-time

Amy attended Bailieborough Community School before joining Cavan Institute to study Make-up Artistry.
Amy is currently working part-time as a freelance make-up artist, as well as a resident make-up artist at LUXE - The Experience Cavan. "My experience as a student of Cavan Institute can be described as many things – challenging, demanding, even difficult. While these words might sound a little negative, but I’m so grateful to have experienced these words. Where I met challenges, which may have been demanding and difficult, I was guided through them with care and expertise by my tutors, and the outcomes were always worth the intensive labour that you invested. Personally, I found the more effort, passion, creativity and time I invested in my projects and assignments, the more experienced I gained. Where I stumbled, I may have learned new tricks, a new style, technique, method or gained a better outlook. There were always resources made available to me to help me along, and if I needed help, it was always offered.
Ultimately, I achieved everything I had set out to in terms of qualifications, having left with an ITEC Diploma in Make-Up Artistry as well as multiple QQI awards in my modules on the course. However, I also left with a better understanding of what it means to be passionate in your career and loving the work you do, rather than just having a job. I now have the job I’ve always dreamed of and love waking up to do it every day, going to sleep every night feeling rewarded and proud. I feel completely prepared for every aspect of it, and for any obstacle I’m faced with. I’m excited to keep building my career with the tools and opportunities Cavan Institute has given me."
