Shay Broadhead from Fenagh, Co Leitrim attended Ballinamore Community School and progressed to Cavan Institute to undertake and complete the QQI Level 5 Sustainable Energy and Construction Technology course in October 2020 and his Level 6 course in Renewable and Engineering Technology Year 2 in 2021.

He achieved his goal of a full award at level 5 and level 6 and is now working at Midland Energy Consultants.
When asked about his time at Cavan Institute, Shay says that "during my time in Cavan Institute, we got the opportunity to build and learn about the practical side of the industry. During work experience, I had the opportunity to work with Midlands Energy Consultants. We worked on a variety of homes and learned how different building techniques are carried out.

Midland Energy Consultants provides a range of support to help people get a BER cert for a building for when it is being sold but to also help people get grants for building.

With the help of Cavan Institute, I was able to get my level 5 and level 6 qualifications and have the opportunity to work in a business that I enjoy and have a real interest in. I now work with a variety of people, as a part of my job is to travel around the country and survey properties.

I cannot thank Cavan Institute enough for all the help they provided. I would highly recommend Cavan Institute for anyone who is indecisive about college. The work experience I gained through Cavan Institute was invaluable to me. They provide so many courses and have brilliant facilities to take advantage of. The tutors were a major help with everything and I cannot thank them enough for helping us prepare. I am incredibly grateful I got the opportunity to attend Cavan Institute".
