At Cavan Institute:
Upon successful completion of year 1 hairdressing, students can progress to   the hairdressing apprenticeship programme. Students can also progress to year   2 hairdressing where they will complete the City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma   in Women's Hairdressing and study for the Department of Education Senior   Trades and specialised level 6 modules​.

Elsewhere:
Should a student wish to pursue an alternative career path after completing   year 1, they can use their qualification to gain entry to higher education.   Students who have gained a full QQI level 5 award in any discipline are   eligible to apply to the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme for   entry to year one of a range of higher certificate and degree programmes at   Higher Education Institutions (please check with the particular institution   regarding local eligibility requirements).
