Within Cavan Institute:
Students who successfully complete this course in Computer and Network Technician (Year 1) meet the entry requirements for two level 6 courses offered at Cavan Institute, Computer and Network Technician (Year 2) and Software Development (Year 2).
Elsewhere:
Graduates are also eligible to apply through the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to year one of a range of higher certificate and degree programmes at Higher Education Institutions (please check with the particular institution regarding local eligibility requirements).

Computer Systems Hardware Networking Essentials Operating Systems Programming and Design Principles Maths for Information Technology Virtualisation Support ICT Security Policy and Management Communications Work Experience Students will also be given the opportunity to prepare for and achieve certification in CompTIA exams (at no additional cost).
About This Course
Students are given the opportunity to identify the components of a computer and learn how they work. As part of this course students, will be required to assemble and disassemble a personal computer (PC), troubleshoot PC hardware and software problems, and build and maintain a peer-to-peer local area network. Throughout the course there is a focus on the development of 'soft skills' such as problem solving, communications and team working. All subjects are taught in a career-focused and interactive way.
