Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or LCVP or QQI Level 4 Award. Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet these entry requirements.
Further Study
Graduates of this course may progress to level 6 courses Design (Year 2), Renewable and Engineering Technology (Year 2) or Furniture Design and Making (Year 2), which are available at Cavan Institute.
Career Opportunities
This course prepares you for progression to a wide range of apprenticeships, including brick and stone masons, carpenters, plumbing, plastering, and painting and decorating contractors. Career opportunities include employment with building contractors or developers, architects, quantity surveyors and local authorities. Graduates are also prepared for work with manufacturers and suppliers of building products and materials. Graduates may also apply to a range of Degree courses in Universities and Institutes of Technology such as: TU Dublin, Dundalk IT, ATU(formerly known as GMIT), Cork IT, Limerick IT and Carlow IT.
This course also provides common entry to a range of other courses in Institutes of Technology.
