Juggling studies, social life, and personal challenges can be overwhelming, and it's important to remember that your mental health matters. At Cavan Institute, we understand the pressures students face, and we're here to support you!
This blog post highlights the resources available at Cavan Institute to prioritise your well-being and mental health.
Guidance Counselors: Our dedicated team of guidance counsellors, Sonia Hoey, Aoife Ward, and Orla Maguire, are available for confidential consultations. They can help you navigate academic stress, career choices, and any personal challenges you might be facing. Whether you need help with decision-making, coping strategies, or just someone to talk to, our counsellors are here to listen and provide guidance. You can reach them at guidance@cavaninstitute.ie or visit them in Block B, B005 or B207.
Peer Mentorship: Feeling overwhelmed in your first year? Our Peer Mentoring Program connects you with experienced students who can offer guidance and support as you navigate your new academic journey. These peer mentors can answer questions about timetables, assessments, and student life in general. They can also be a friendly face and a listening ear during your first few weeks.
College Care: This initiative, in collaboration with An Garda Síochána, provides support and resources on various topics related to well-being and safety. They can be a helpful contact for issues beyond academics.
Pastoral Support: The chaplaincy service offers a safe and confidential space for students of all faiths to discuss their worries and concerns. Chaplain Fr Gerry Kearns can provide a listening ear, offer spiritual guidance, or refer you to other support services as needed. You can reach him by email at chaplain@cavaninstitute.ie.
Student Handbook: This comprehensive guide provides detailed information about all the support services available at Cavan Institute, including contact details for all the resources mentioned above. Consider this your one-stop resource for navigating student life and accessing all the support you might need.
Health Centre: Full-time registered students can access free medical consultations at the on-campus health centre with Dr. Tom Prior and Dr. Mairéad Beirne. Simply present your valid student ID card and you'll receive the healthcare you need, free of charge if you have a medical card.
Remember, you are not alone! Cavan Institute is committed to supporting your mental health and well-being. Don't hesitate to reach out to any of these resources if you need help. Taking care of yourself is essential for academic success and overall happiness.
