Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or LCVP or QQI Level 4 Award. Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet these entry requirements.

Further Study

Students may also progress to Level 6 programmes such as Furniture Design and Making (Year 2), Design (Year 2), or Renewable and Engineering Technology (Year 2) offered at Cavan Institute.


Career Opportunities

Students who successfully complete the course may progress to apprenticeships in Carpentry and Joinery or Wood Manufacturing and Finishing.

About This Course

The purpose of this course is to provide students with a thorough grounding in the theory and practical skills necessary to work in the ever-changing area of carpentry and joinery.

The course is practical in nature and aims to prepare students to find employment with small and large contractors as apprentices or trainee carpenters.
