Your Path to Physiotherapy

Wishing Sarah all the very best as she takes the next step in her chosen pathway of qualifying as a Chartered Physiotherapist. Sarah was a 2019/20 Cavan Institute scholarship recipient and starts a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in the University of Cumbria in September 2020.

Sarah Smyth is from Carramore, Boyle, Co Roscommon. She attended Carrick-on-Shannon Community School.  Sarah studied our Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation Year 1 and Year 2. Well done!

Sarah tells us that "Studying Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation at Cavan Institute has really helped me prepare for university and has given me a head start by giving me a base knowledge of some of the subjects I will be covering in University such as anatomy and physiology. It also taught me the importance of completing assignments on time and taught me the skills needed to complete them.

The practical skills I learned on this course can be carried forward to university but also into my future career. This course has also helped me mature and helped me decide that physiotherapy was definitely something I wanted to pursue.

The experience and knowledge that I gained in Cavan Institute from the tutors and from work placement was definitely an advantage when applying for university as this is something they look for. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Cavan Institute and would recommend it to anyone unsure of what they want to do in the future or even as a stepping stone to help you prepare for university."

Thanks, Sarah. Keep in touch! We wish you all the best in your studies and career.
