This course will start with a theory class that provides an overview on the equipment involved in grooming and how to maintain it. This is followed by three practical classes that will demonstrate the process involved in a groom, introducing you to the different way to groom a variety of breed and coat types. You will also learn important elements related to housing a dog, a dog’s body language, the dog’s skin and possible skin disorders. This will be followed by three practical classes. It is aimed at those wishing to build on basic skills or those wanting to learn the skill from scratch. The course fee includes a dummy cake, but all other course materials must be purchased or provided by the student. The tutor will give you clear guidance on the first evening on what to buy. These include good quality fondant, marzipan, balling tools, flower paste, fondant smoothening tool, modelling foam mat, plastic rolling pin and a small paintbrush.
