I was accepted into Teesside University based on all my previous experience and all my results from Cavan Institute. Cavan Institute really prepared me for higher education study e.g completing assignments, meeting deadlines & the anatomy and physiology from Cavan Institute was a huge help for University too. • Edel Hennessy | Cavan Institute

Edel Hennessy from Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan tells us how Cavan Institute helped her on her way. "When I completed my leaving certificate in St Clares, Ballyjamesduff, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I got accepted to DIT for sports but I opted for sports in Cavan institute which I completed, but didn't continue the sports. Then in September 2013 I started my Hairdressing year 1. Each module was covered in great detail and gave me the love to stay at hairdressing, developing skills I never knew I had. Without the excellent teachers, with great ambition and passion, to help each student to obtain their highest ability, I wouldn't be the hairstylist I am now. During my advanced course I worked part time in a hairdressing salon which lead to full time employment. I felt I was ready to make the jump and open my own hairdressing salon in October 2018. The salon is situated on Main Street Cavan "LUXE the experience". I am always up-skilling with the best in the business and I will continue to bring the best to Cavan. Thank you to my teachers Clare & Katie for helping me through the 4 years in Cavan Institute." Edel Hennessy Hairdressing Year 1 Edel Hennessy Hairdressing Year 1 Student testimonials Previous Next

Round Zero students include QQI applicants for limited-place courses like Nursing, Social Care, Law & more—guided by quality assurance principles. Progression Round Zero Progression Round Zero offers came out on 8 August 2020. Students who fall into the Round Zero category include applicants who are presenting QQI qualifications for courses that have a limited number of places available for these students. These include Nursing, Social Care, Veterinary Nursing, Commerce and Law, to name just a few. We have had many students in Cavan Institute gain access to Higher Education this year using this option. Many courses have an entry route for applicants presenting QQI/FET, but do not have a specific quota. These courses will be offering places in Round One on 11 September 2020. We wish all our students the very best of luck in securing an offer and progressing with their education. National Framework of Qualifications Established in 2003, the Irish National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) is a 10-level, single national entity through which all learning achievements may be measured and related to each other. Underpinned by quality assurance principles, the Irish NFQ describes qualifications in the Irish education and training system and sets out what each qualification says about what learners know, understand and are able to do. It also sets out qualifications pathways from one NFQ level to the next. Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) is responsible for developing, promoting and maintaining the Irish NFQ. QQI also facilitates the recognition of foreign qualifications.
