My year at Cavan institute was unforgettable and has been nothing but beneficial in terms of preparing me for university.

after going to an open day in Cavan Institute, I got an insight into what I would be doing on the professional cookery course. The course helped me build my confidence in my cooking skills as well as my multitasking and organizational skills which are important for being a chef. The course also helped me as I completed 40 days of work experience in a hotel kitchen. This gave me an insight into how a professional kitchen was run and I would have never gotten this experience only for the course.

Completing both courses helped me build a strong foundation that assisted me in joining An Garda Síochána.

My advice is, if you are unsure of what career path to follow, the Office Administration and Technology course is a great place to start as the skills learned are useful no matter what area of work you eventually decide to enter.

As a mature student, I can’t recommend Cavan Institute highly enough. One of the best decisions I made recently was returning to full time education. The staff and tutors were amazing in their support and encouragement on my journey back to education. I am delighted I took the plunge and went back to college.
