My experience at Cavan Institute was absolutely amazing. Although it is quite a difficult and heavy course, it was extremely rewarding. I always had a passion for makeup from a very young age and had always dreamed of being a makeup artist. I had researched so many makeup courses around Ireland, most of them being private, which were extremely expensive and quite far away from home. I knew since I was in my 3rd year of secondary school that I wanted to have an ITEC diploma.

I can't thank all the amazing tutors enough for pushing me and helping me along the way.

The course in Cavan Institute covers many variations of makeup including special effects and theatrical makeup.

I found the more effort, passion, creativity and time I invested in my projects and assignments, the more experienced I gained.

Throughout the course I had fantastic mentoring, continuous assessment of my improving skills and was able to participate in an overseas student exchange programme.

Starting college as a mature student with children was very nerve wrecking, however Cavan Institute made the transition very relaxed and smooth.

Cavan Institute provided me with a great insight into the engineering world. In my year of study on this course, many topics were covered to help confirm my interest in engineering.

Work experience was very beneficial to me as it allowed me to gain an understanding of the work environment and what employers expect of their workers. I also learned about the day to day running of a childcare setting. As a result of my work experience, I have been given a full-time position in my work placement childcare setting.

I draw upon these skills to create engaging promotional material for upcoming engagement activities.

Working together with other motivated classmates and tutors, I learned first-hand how to work in a team on creative projects and got my first sense of working in the professional industry through work placements

I deferred my CAO offer for a year and chose to take a year to study Multimedia and Web Development in Cavan Institute.

Cavan Institute is such a good stepping stone to getting what you want to do in life. I was inexperienced after my Leaving Cert and was super disappointed with my results, but going to Cavan Institute has helped me so much in doing what I want to do with my life. I’ve had the opportunity to go work in Finland through Léargas and Erasmus+ and attended an Adobe Design competition in London. Before COVID-19 hit, I had an opportunity to do an Internship in America for a year. However, I got my dream job out of Cavan Institute which I am in right now. The tutors in CI are really kind and understanding. A PLC is definitely worth doing if you don’t know where to go from Leaving Cert
