The Audio and Music Production course provides students with the opportunity to build on their knowledge and skills in the area of sound production and sound engineering, including studio work, audio mixing and mastering, sound design, Foley, AV and composition with technology.

Entry Requirements
Learners wishing to access this award must have a minimum of a pass grade (or equivalent) in all of the following QQI level 5 minor awards, Sound Engineering and Production 5N1900, Music Technology 5N1640, Music Industry Studies 5N1458, Communications 5N0690 and Work Experience 5N1356. Competence in English (CEFR level B2) is required.
Equal consideration will be given to applicants who do not meet these entry requirements through recognition of prior learning (RPL). Desirable entry requirements include some knowledge of music theory.
Further Study
Graduates of this course will be able to pursue many opportunities in a range of areas, including games, TV and film, animation, theatre, live sound and lighting production, studio recording and radio.
Roles and occupations include audio technician, sound engineer, recording engineer, mix engineer, sound designer, sound editor, mastering engineer, general theatre technician, sales and product development, light and sound designer, composer, songwriter and audio/visual technician.

About This Course
This course allows students to develop a broad range of specialised knowledge and skills in audio and music technology, sound engineering and production.
Students will gain hands-on experience in studio work, music and sound tracking, audio mixing and mastering, sound design, Foley, composition, song writing and post-production for TV and film in our high-spec studios and multimedia editing suites. A series of live events throughout the academic year will allow students to gain experience in live sound and lighting techniques whilst developing the necessary skills required in organising and staging events.
Students will develop the knowledge and skills required to find work and conduct business in an increasingly digitised sector.
As part of the course, students will be offered the opportunity to achieve certification in the Avid Pro Tools 100 series and DANTE, whilst developing competence in Reason, Adobe Audition, Sibelius, Ableton and other software.
