Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or LCVP or QQI Level 4 Award. Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet these entry requirements.

Career Opportunities

This course in Business Studies provides students with a general qualification in business and will provide opportunities to work in diverse areas such as finance, retail, marketing and IT.

Progression

At Cavan Institute:

Graduates of this Business Studies (Year 1) course may progress to the QQI level 6 Certificate in Administration and IT for Business or the level 6 Business Studies (Year 2) course, both available at Cavan Institute. 


Elsewhere: 

Graduates of this Business Studies (Year 1) course are eligible to apply through the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to year one of a range of higher certificate and degree programmes at Higher Education Institutions (please check with the particular institution regarding local eligibility requirements). Students are also eligible to apply for courses in the UK or Europe.

About This Course

This course will provide you with a broad business education. Students will develop an excellent grounding in the skills and knowledge required in a modern business setting. They will study the core business principles of accounting, economics, business administration/management, law, IT and marketing. Theory will be brought to life through work on practical business assignments in addition to a two-week work placement.
