Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or LCVP or QQI Level 4 Award. Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet these entry requirements.

Employment in this sector continues to grow rapidly and graduates in this area are very much in demand in the creative sector. Graduates will be competent to take up employment in numerous multimedia-related industries. Current employment opportunities lie in the areas of web design, graphic design, advertising, digital marketing, social media manager, content creation, videography, photography and UX design.

Progression

At Cavan Institute:

Graduates of this course in Creative Digital Media (Year 1) may progress to the level 6 courses, Creative Digital Media (Year 2) or Computer Games Development (Year 2).

Graduates are also eligible to apply through the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to year one of a range of higher certificate and degree programmes at Higher Education Institutions (please check with the particular institution regarding local eligibility requirements).

About This Course

This Creative Digital Media course equips students with essential skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving landscape of digital media. Through hands-on projects, students gain practical experience and develop a deep understanding of the tools, techniques, and strategies utilised in the industry. By exploring cross-platform software on Apple Macs and Windows PCs, students learn to plan, design, and produce visually captivating websites enriched with a wide range of multimedia features. Industry-standard software such as Premiere Pro is used for recording and editing digital media, enabling students to create professional video content. 


Additionally, students engage in the creation and development of a diverse range of graphics suitable for both print media and the dynamic web environment. This course empowers students to unleash their creativity, while providing them with the skills necessary to excel in the ever-evolving realm of digital media.
