Entry Requirements

Students should have successfully completed an appropriate QQI Level 5 programme such as Computer-Aided Design (5M1940), Construction Technology (5M5010) or Design (5M2208). Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet this entry requirement but can demonstrate industry experience.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of this course will have acquired the skills necessary to work in the modern furniture making industry. Potential employment opportunities include a range of areas within the furniture and wood manufacturing industries.


Graduates are eligible to apply through the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to a range of higher certificate and degree programmes at Higher Education Institutions. (Please check with the particular institution regarding local eligibility requirements).

About This Course

This course is aimed at people who wish to pursue a career in furniture design and manufacture. This course is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills associated with modern design techniques and furniture making technologies. Students on this course are encouraged to develop innovative approaches to producing high quality furniture.
