About This Course
The apprentice will gain an internationally recognised qualification, Level 6 major Award on the National Framework of Qualifications and continue to earn whilst they learn with an employer of their choice, enrich their work immediately as they acquire new skills and enhance their employment prospects and career opportunities.
This three-year program equips Apprentices with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to perform effectively as professional Hairdressers. It begins with a 2-week five-day structured induction in college and then continues with 1-day per week in college. The remaining days per week are spent with an approved employer of your choice, working whilst gaining on-the-job skills. Assessment is completed in both college and the workplace. First-year apprentices attend college each Tuesday; second-year apprentices attend college each Wednesday, and third-year apprentices attend college each Monday. All college days are held at Cavan Institute.

No course fees apply to this programme, the SOLAS approved employer pays the apprentice to attend college One day per week. Uniforms and Hairdressing Kits are also free to the apprentice.
On successful completion of the Hairdressing Apprenticeship the newly qualified Hairdresser will receive a QQI Level 6 Major Award- Advanced Certificate Hairdressing

Entry Requirements
QQI level 4 Major Award on the QQI National Framework of Qualification or recognised equivalent (For Example Leaving Certificate) or two years full-time experience working within a Hair Salon.
CEFRL B2+ Level of English (Where English is not a first language).
Non-Standard Entry
In a case where an applicant doesn’t meet the educational requirements specified above, they must satisfactorily complete an informative panel interview facilitated by the Programme Manager.
Advanced Entry: applicants who hold a Level 5 qualification in Hairdressing or have relevant experiential learning can apply for advanced entry into year 2 of this apprenticeship.
