Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or LCVP or QQI Level 4 Award. Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet these entry requirements.

Career Opportunities

Students who successfully complete the course may   progress to apprenticeships in Carpentry and Joinery or Wood Manufacturing   and Finishing.


Graduates of this course in Carpentry Techniques may progress to level 6   courses Furniture Design (Year 2) or Renewable and Engineering Technology   (Year 2). Elsewhere:

Graduates of this course in Carpentry Techniques are eligible to apply   through the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to year   one of a range of higher certificate and degree programmes at Higher   Education Institutions (please check with the particular institution regarding   local eligibility requirements).

About This Course

The Carpentry Techniques course is practical in nature and aims to prepare   students to find employment with small and large contractors as apprentices   or trainee carpenters.

This course in Carpentry Techniques, which focuses on   passive house building techniques and "Nearly Zero Energy Building"   (NZEB) standards, aims to produce graduates who are equipped to work in the   rapidly changing landscape of today's wood construction industry.
