Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or LCVP or QQI Level 4 Award. Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet these entry requirements.

Further Study

Students who successfully complete the course can enter the Commis Chef Apprenticeship programme offered at Cavan Institute or other FET providers.

Students will have the opportunity to study Food Safety and achieve 5-year certification from EHAI (Environmental Health Association of Ireland). The programme offers students a 40-day work practice, giving students hands on experience working out in an industrial kitchen, in a hotel / restaurant linked to the commis chef programme, aiding progression to the commis chef course. 

Career Opportunities

This course is aimed at students interested in becoming a chef within the hospitality industry.
