About This Course
This one-year advanced course is designed for learners who have already completed a QQI Level 5 in Sport, Recreation and Exercise and are looking to progress into supervisory roles, personal training, or sports coaching.
This is a dual-certified programme, combining the QQI Level 6 Award in Sport, Recreation & Exercise with the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training and the Level 2 Award in Instructing Strength and Conditioning Sessions. These industry-recognised qualifications will give you a competitive edge in the fitness and leisure sector.
You’ll gain advanced knowledge in fitness instruction, coaching, and leadership, while also developing the business and communication skills needed to thrive in a professional setting.



Course Content
You will study a comprehensive range of modules that prepare you for both practical and leadership roles in the fitness industry:
Health Promotion – Learn strategies to support healthy lifestyles in your community
Sports Nutrition – Explore advanced dietary planning for performance and recovery
Start Your Own Business – Understand the essentials of running a fitness business
Soccer Coaching – Enhance your coaching techniques and session planning
Team Leadership – Develop the skills to lead and motivate others
Gaelic Football Coaching – Build on your coaching experience in a GAA context
Sports Industry Practice – Gain insights into the professional sports and fitness sector
Exercise and Fitness – Apply advanced training principles in real-world settings
Work Experience – Complete placement in a relevant sports or fitness environment

Progression
Completing the QQI Level 5 in Sport and Fitness opens up a wide range of opportunities for further study in both Ireland and the UK. Many of our past students have progressed to degree programmes such as:

Entry Requirements
QQI level 5 award in Sports, Recreation and Exercise (or equivalent).
• Must include Level 5 Exercise and Fitness and at least one Level 5 Coaching module (Soccer or GAA)
• ITEC Gym Instruction Award.
Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet this entry requirement but can demonstrate industry experience.
