Course Overiew

The barbering course will teach you everything you need to know to be able to develop basic barbering cutting skills. You will learn various cutting styles and techniques, with a full demonstration on how to use all the cutting tools and attachments. This course is suitable for anyone who wants to learn how to cut men's hair. This could be just for someone who wants to know how to cut hair at home or for students thinking about starting a career in barbering or upskilling.

The tutor will provide you with advice on what tools and equipment you will need to be able to cut men's hair, including clippers with various attachments, scissors and cutting comb, cutting gown, water spray bottle, hair dryer and hairbrush for styling, optional styling products. If students have their own tools and equipment at home, there is no need to buy new ones as these can be bought as they grow in with confidence in using the cutting tools.

Course Content

Here's what will you learn each week:

First, students will be shown how to use cutting tools and attachments. Each week students will be given a demonstration on various cutting techniques.

From week two onwards, students will be encouraged to bring their own model to start building their confidence in using the cutting tools and this will hugely benefit their confidence to grow each week.

What will I need to bring/buy for the course?

Students will be asked to bring a model each week. This will ensure the students get the most out of the course. Bringing a model allows the student to demonstrate the skills that have been shown during class. This is not necessary but will hugely benefit the student.

You will learn to use the following tools and equipment:

  • Clippers with various attachments

  • Scissors and cutting comb

  • Hair dryer and hairbrush for styling

  •  Styling products
