Course Overview
This short, festive course offers a warm introduction to traditional Irish Christmas baking through live demonstrations. Over two Friday afternoons in relaxed, hands-on sessions in Cavan Institute’s professional kitchen, you’ll watch, learn and taste as a range of classic sweet treats are prepared.
Recipes explored may include favourites such as Christmas pudding, mince pies, fruit cake, spiced biscuits and other seasonal bakes commonly found in Irish homes. Along the way, you’ll pick up practical shortcuts, ingredient swaps and ways to adapt recipes to modern kitchens without losing that traditional feel.
You’ll see each stage clearly: mixing, flavouring, baking and finishing, along with tips that make all the difference at home, from avoiding dry cakes to getting the perfect richness in a pudding or crumble.
It’s a chance to slow down, soak in the aromas, ask questions and leave with the know-how and inspiration to recreate these classics yourself.
