Course Overview
This eight-week evening course introduces the creative and tactile world of pottery using air-dry clay; no kiln, no fuss, just hands-on making. It’s all about slowing down, working with your hands and turning simple materials into personal, functional and decorative pieces that you can either keep or gift to others.
You’ll explore a range of hand-building techniques such as pinch pots, coiling, slab construction and sculpting. Alongside making, you’ll learn how to refine, join, texture and finish your work using sanding, painting and sealing methods suitable for air-dry clay.
This course leans into experimentation! Expect a bit of mess, some trial and error, and those satisfying “ah, that worked!” moments. Whether you’re looking for a creative outlet, a way to unwind or a stepping stone into ceramics, this course gives you the tools and confidence to keep
going.
By the end, you’ll have created several finished pieces and developed a feel for clay that opens the door to further creative practice.
