We are delighted to share that Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board’s podcast, 'The Journey', has been shortlisted for the 2026 Aontas STAR Awards.
The Aontas STAR Awards celebrate the very best in adult learning in Ireland, recognising outstanding initiatives that support learners and give voice to their experiences. Being shortlisted is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the impact The Journey podcast continues to have at both the local and national levels.
Celebrating Adult Learner Voices
The Journey podcast provides a platform where adult learners share their stories, reflecting on their educational journeys, challenges, and successes. Supporting learner voice is central to our approach, and this recognition highlights the importance of listening to, learning from, and amplifying those experiences.
We are incredibly proud to see this work acknowledged as part of a national shortlist alongside other inspiring adult learning initiatives from across the country.
Featured Episode: Resilience, Food & Education
A recent episode of The Journey features a powerful and inspiring conversation with renowned chef Eddie Halligan and Cavan Institute staff member Pauric Whyte.
In this episode, Pauric shares his remarkable journey—from running his much-loved restaurant The Forge to navigating significant health challenges that forced him to step away from the kitchen. He speaks openly about resilience, adaptability, and finding renewed purpose through education.
Now, Pauric is shaping the future of the culinary industry by leading the Commis Chef programme at Cavan Institute, where he is passionate about mentoring and inspiring the next generation of chefs.
