- Jarlath Gaffney | Cavan Institute
Jarlath from Derrycramph, Cavan attended St Patrick's College, Cavan. Jarlath studied QQI Level 5 Pre-University Law in Cavan Institute and progressed to IT Carlow to study Honours Bachelor of Laws LLB degree. "Having completed my leaving cert I was unsure of what I wanted to study at higher education however I always had a keen interest in law and current affairs. I had been offered an arts with history degree in NUIG but I did not feel ready to leave home at that time. I choose to study the pre university law programme in Cavan Institute and it provided me with a foundation insight into the Irish legal system in both civil and criminal proceedings. I would greatly recommend students who have just completed their leaving certs to complete a QQI/FETAC course before you progress to higher education because it provides students with the practical skills required in the modern workplace through the completion of the work experience programme. The modules in this course include law modules such as business law and criminal law as well as business based subjects such as business administration skills. There is a wide variety of arts, business, law, theology or social science degrees of which this course can be used as a progression route to. Tutors in Cavan Institute are supportive and cooperative with their students. I have now started the Honours Bachelor of Laws LLB degree this year in IT Carlow and I know the help and support I received from Cavan Institute will be of tremendous benefit to me both academically and socially." - Edel Hennessy | Cavan Institute
Edel Hennessy from Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan tells us how Cavan Institute helped her on her way. "When I completed my leaving certificate in St Clares, Ballyjamesduff, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I got accepted to DIT for sports but I opted for sports in Cavan institute which I completed, but didn't continue the sports. Then in September 2013 I started my Hairdressing year 1. Each module was covered in great detail and gave me the love to stay at hairdressing, developing skills I never knew I had. Without the excellent teachers, with great ambition and passion, to help each student to obtain their highest ability, I wouldn't be the hairstylist I am now. During my advanced course I worked part time in a hairdressing salon which lead to full time employment. I felt I was ready to make the jump and open my own hairdressing salon in October 2018. The salon is situated on Main Street Cavan "LUXE the experience". I am always up-skilling with the best in the business and I will continue to bring the best to Cavan. Thank you to my teachers Clare & Katie for helping me through the 4 years in Cavan Institute." Edel Hennessy Hairdressing Year 1 Edel Hennessy Hairdressing Year 1 Student testimonials Previous Next
