"When I completed my Level 6 award, I then applied to Letterkenny Institute of Technology via direct entry. This got me into a Higher Certificate level 6 [Year 2 of the Degree]. I am now currently in my 1st Year of my level 7 Degree. I successfully completed my exams in January and then on the last week of January I started my 12 week placement in an early childhood care and education placement in Donegal. When I attended Cavan Institute to complete my Level 5 and Level 6 modules in Early Childhood Care and Education, to be honest, it was tough. There was a lot of work involved, so I just studied and knuckled down as this is what I wanted to do. Some days were better than others and there are days I guess I wanted to give up but I didn't, I pushed on. My tutors in Cavan Institute were such an amazing help and if it wasn't for them and the girls in my class I don’t think I would have got to this point in my studies. The most important skills I developed when doing the course was to know that we all have goals we want to achieve, and sometimes it can be hard to reach the goals but that it is important to be learning in a supportive environment. I saw how important it is to also help each other as much as we can. Everyone is aiming to achieve the same goals at the end of the day! And most of all, never be afraid to ask for help as it was always on hand and the tutors were amazing at it. Cavan Institute prepares you so well for progressing onto another college. While these words might sound a little negative, but I’m so grateful to have experienced these words.
