This programme is much more than just a pre-university course—it is an immersive experience that prepares you for the reality of the classroom. We focus on developing the academic research, writing, and interpersonal skills necessary for success in higher education and the teaching profession.

Hands-on Experience: You will complete a two-week professional work placement in a primary, post-primary, or community education setting.
Real-World Insight: Learn directly from the source! We host guest speakers, including practising teachers and school principals, who share their professional experiences with our students.
Beyond the Classroom: Take part in adventure activities, experience a visit to the Gaeltacht, and even have the opportunity for a two-week Erasmus+ placement in an EU country.

Where Can This Course Take You?

This programme is designed to optimise your progression opportunities to a wide range of Level 8 degree programmes both at home and abroad.

In Ireland: You can apply for a broad range of concurrent and non-concurrent education degrees through the CAO and the Higher Education Links Scheme (HELS). Graduates go on to pursue Primary Teaching via a Professional Master of Education (PME) or qualify as Post-Primary teachers in their chosen subject areas.
In the UK & EU: Our graduates are well-positioned to apply for teaching degrees in the UK through UCAS (such as the University of Sunderland) or international programmes in the Netherlands (such as Stenden University of Applied Sciences).
