"I was very impressed with this course. As I didn't study a third language for my LC I was unable to go to university so I came to Cavan College to get that third language in, which then helped me get into university. I am now studying at Maynooth University. I would recommend this course to anyone with an interest in Irish History." - Eli Mellor | Cavan Institute
Eli from Lough Gowna, Cavan studied year 1 and year 2 of the Sports Therapy /Physiotherapy Studies at Cavan Institute and progressed to study Physiotherapy in Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven, Holland. "Without Cavan Institute, I doubt that I would be in the position that I am in today. I knew that I would not get the points needed in the Leaving Cert to do a Physiotherapy Course in Ireland, so I used Cavan Institute as a stepping stone to get into a University abroad. The course itself in Cavan Institute is filled with interesting topics such as Anatomy and Physiology, Injury Treatment and Prevention, Nutrition and Taping and Strapping. The knowledge that I attained in this course gave me a great start to University. I had a good foundation in the basics of Physiotherapy. Outside of the course, the college is perfect for educating people on how to prepare for life in University by allowing them to take on a more responsible role in their education. This includes completing assignments, practising self-study and meeting deadlines. If progressing into physiotherapy is not for you, there are still opportunities available to work within the sports sector. Before I started my physiotherapy degree, I gained knowledge during the Summer of 2018 by working with various football and soccer teams as a sports physio throughout the Cavan-Leitrim region, but mainly with Gowna GAA. It allowed me to develop my skills in taping and strapping, performing sports massage and using first aid as well. All of these skills are very desirable in the world of sport. My two years in Cavan Institute have allowed me to pursue my dream of becoming a Physiotherapist and for that, I would definitely recommend Cavan Institute for anyone who wants to do Physiotherapy or become a Sports Physio." - Emma Carolan | Cavan Institute
"I choose Cavan Institute because it was convenient to me and I had heard good reports about the college and tutors. During my second year at Cavan Institute, studying Early Childhood Care and Education Year 2 , I received great assistance and support from my tutors. Work experience was very beneficial to me as it allowed me to gain an understanding of the work environment and what employers expect of their workers. I also learned about the day to day running of a childcare setting. As a result of my work experience, I have been given a full-time position in my work placement childcare setting. I developed skills in assignment presentation as well as communication skills. Cavan Institute is a great learning environment, but there is also a good social aspect of it. There were numerous days in which events were arranged for us to attend e.g. Mental Health Awareness, Well Being etc." We wish you all the best in your career Emma and thanks for sharing your story with us. Hannah from Lisreagh, Cavan attended Loreto College, Cavan. "I studied Makeup Artistry in Cavan Institute for the academic year 2014-15. I had just completed my leaving certificate and wanted to study all things beauty and makeup. I received an overall distinction certificate with the help of my tutors in all modules. The course in Cavan Institute covers many variations of makeup including special effects and theatrical makeup. I went on to study in London for a further few months before returning home, where I worked on the Benefit counter in Cara Pharmacy. I have recently left to concentrate on more freelance makeup and to work in London. All tutors at Cavan Institute were extremely helpful and gave great advice and knowledge. Cavan Institute definitely helped me to become more confident and acquire some great skills for working in the beauty industry."
