- Megan Wilson | Cavan Institute
Megan from Lisgar, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan studied year 1 and year 2 Early Childhood Care and Education at Cavan Institute. "During my first year studying Childcare Level 5 in Cavan Institute, I was overwhelmed with all the support I was given. The staff and people in Cavan Institute always made me feel like I belonged there and never made me feel like an outsider. Everyone did what they could do to help me which made me like the place even more than I already did. Everyone was always friendly and was able to lift the mood when I was having a bad day. One of my favourite experiences was around Christmas time. The canteen and lounge area was filled with Christmas music and decorated all over. The overall setting of the Institute made everyone that little more festive and joyous. The tutors always made sure that we knew what we were doing but then also knew how to keep us on our toes. My tutors knew how to make learning fun by incorporating quizzes and games into the curriculum. Another fond memory/experience I remember was, one of the first days I attended the Institute. The class was brought out to Breffni Park for team building exercises and to get to know everyone better. I can honestly say that it was so much fun and from that day I made some of my best/closest friends. I can honestly say I really enjoyed my time at Cavan Institute for my first year in college and cannot wait to return for my second year to study Early Childhood Care and Education Level 6" Megan Wilson Childcare Megan Wilson Childcare Student testimonials Previous Next
- Emma Dowd | Cavan Institute
Emma came to Cavan Institute to study on our Professional Cookery course. Emma has a passion for cooking and she wants to be a chef. She is currently working in Lisgrey House in Virginia, Cavan. Emma told us that "after going to an open day in Cavan Institute, I got an insight into what I would be doing on the professional cookery course. The course helped me build my confidence in my cooking skills as well as my multitasking and organizational skills which are important for being a chef. The course also helped me as I completed 40 days of work experience in a hotel kitchen. This gave me an insight into how a professional kitchen was run and I would have never gotten this experience only for the course. The highlight of the year for me was the Spring meal event that my class and I organised. We planned the event ourselves from drafting up menus to cooking the dishes and I really enjoyed the process as it allowed me to be creative. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Cavan Institute and would recommend the Professional Cookery course to anyone who has a passion for cooking and wants to improve their skills in the kitchen. I also had the opportunity to travel to France with Leargas and Erasmus+ which was an amazing experience to work in a French kitchen. I can thoroughly say that the experience was amazing."
