"During my first year studying Childcare Level 5 in Cavan Institute, I was overwhelmed with all the support I was given. The staff and people in Cavan Institute always made me feel like I belonged there and never made me feel like an outsider. Everyone did what they could do to help me which made me like the place even more than I already did. Everyone was always friendly and was able to lift the mood when I was having a bad day. One of my favourite experiences was around Christmas time. The canteen and lounge area was filled with Christmas music and decorated all over. Emma told us that "after going to an open day in Cavan Institute, I got an insight into what I would be doing on the professional cookery course. The course helped me build my confidence in my cooking skills as well as my multitasking and organizational skills which are important for being a chef. The course also helped me as I completed 40 days of work experience in a hotel kitchen. The highlight of the year for me was the Spring meal event that my class and I organised.
