Early Learning and Care Stage 1 QQI Level 5 Course Code CC Major Award Code 5M21473 Apply Now About This Course This two-year Early Learning and Care programme will provide learners with the knowledge skills and competencies associated with the practical, social and legal aspects of the Early Learning and Care profession. Learners who wish to exit the award at stage 1 will be awarded the embedded award QQI Level 5 Certificate in Early Learning and Care 5M21473. As part of the Early Learning and Care programme, learners must undertake extensive professional practice placement (150 hours) in at least two Tusla registered Early Learning and Care settings at both stage 1 and stage 2. The ELC settings include those which cater for: Children from birth to 2 years 8 months Children from 2 years 8 months to 6 years. NB – It is important to note that the six mandatory programme modules are not accredited awards in their own right. The level 5 certificate in Early Learning and Care will be awarded on successful completion of all the 6 mandatory programme modules. I knew that I wanted to study music in college, but I didn’t want to repeat my leaving cert. So, I decided to do a level 5 QQI/Btec course in music and sound production here in Cavan Institute. Little did I know that doing a PLC in Cavan Institute was the best thing for me at that time, as I made a lot of new friends who were interested in music as much as I am. In my course, I got to learn the piano and I improved on my music theory also. When I went to Cavan Institute I had little to no knowledge about music production nor music technology which was a worry for me at first but with the help of my tutors and my fellow colleagues I learned so much about the production/technology side of the course. Studying in Cavan Institute has taught me very important skills for college such as getting used to ‘Moodle’, academic referencing in assignments was very important for me to learn as I'll always have to do that in college. I also learned how to take in information in a college unlike secondary school, college has a different way of teaching you the information you need for your assignments/exams. Erasmus Programme Erasmus Plus Cavan Institute students who wish to complete their mandatory work placement in Europe can apply to the Erasmus+ Programme. The Programme is open to all registered, full-time students on registered courses. Work placements and accommodation are arranged by Cavan Institute with partners in host countries. On completion of the placement abroad, students will be required to submit a report to Cavan Institute which is forwarded to the European Union. Cultural Experience You can experience living in another culture, enjoy travelling, improve language skills, gain a Europass Qualification, add this experience to your CV and get that valuable job. Cavan Institute has developed partnerships with agencies and colleges in Malta, Estonia and Italy (TBC).
