Joy Spendlove from Kilmacanogue, Co. Wicklow commenced the QQI Level 5 Occupational Therapy Studies course during 2019/20 with the objective of using her Level 5 Award to progress her studies in the Occupational Therapy area. After achieving her full award with Cavan Institute, Joy was offered a place on the Masters in Occupational Therapy programme at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh Joy really enjoyed her time at Cavan Institute and says that "throughout my time in Cavan Institute, I made so many new friends both in College and in my host family, where I stayed during the week. I found that the staff and tutors were always there for guidance and queries. I applied to all three Universities in Scotland and two in England and was fortunate enough to gain a place in all of them. I always knew I wanted a career in healthcare and completing this course in Cavan Institute has allowed me the opportunity to achieve this. I am now studying my Masters in Occupational Therapy in Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.
