It combines theory (understanding canine psychology, communication and behaviour) with practice (training exercises with their own dogs). "I met with the staff of Cavan Institute at the open day, following this up with telephone calls and some serious soul searching before I enrolled on the Complementary Therapies course in September 2016. Holistics, mental health and stress management are areas I have always been fascinated with and here was my opportunity to learn more in a structured environment and gain a recognised qualification. As a professional who worked for 20 plus years in accounting and finance roles this was a complete diversion and major decision to return to full time education. The course was intensive, more than I envisaged, because it followed both QQI/FETAC and ITEC (internationally recognised) programmes. Aisling applied for and received a sports scholarship both years in Cavan Institute, representing the CI college team, reaching the Lagan Cup semi-final. She captained the team in 2019/20.
