Hannah from Lisreagh, Cavan attended Loreto College, Cavan. "I studied Makeup Artistry in Cavan Institute for the academic year 2014-15. I had just completed my leaving certificate and wanted to study all things beauty and makeup. I received an overall distinction certificate with the help of my tutors in all modules. The course in Cavan Institute covers many variations of makeup including special effects and theatrical makeup. I went on to study in London for a further few months before returning home, where I worked on the Benefit counter in Cara Pharmacy. I have recently left to concentrate on more freelance makeup and to work in London. All tutors at Cavan Institute were extremely helpful and gave great advice and knowledge. • Anita Maguire | Cavan Institute

Anita from Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan completed the one year Diploma in Complementary Therapy course at Cavan Institute in May 2017. "I met with the staff of Cavan Institute at the open day, following this up with telephone calls and some serious soul searching before I enrolled on the Complementary Therapies course in September 2016. Holistics, mental health and stress management are areas I have always been fascinated with and here was my opportunity to learn more in a structured environment and gain a recognised qualification. As a professional who worked for 20 plus years in accounting and finance roles this was a complete diversion and major decision to return to full time education. The course was intensive, more than I envisaged, because it followed both QQI/FETAC and ITEC (internationally recognised) programmes. As a class we were exposed to an all round experience from running an onsite clinic to practical case studies, presentations, diet planning, developing creams and lotions, marketing and design and 2 weeks work experience but through hard work and the support of highly trained and passionate tutors and amazing classmates I completed the course in May 2017. It has been my personal journey and was right for me at that moment. Who knows what the future holds but I am thrilled to be awarded ITEC Diplomas in Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Holistic Massage and Indian Head Massage along with QQI/FETAC Certificate in Community Health Services all at distinction level. I put in 100% effort and enjoyed the whole experience as a mature student, a big thank you Cavan Institute." I’ve had the opportunity to go work in Finland through Léargas and Erasmus+ and attended an Adobe Design competition in London. Before COVID-19 hit, I had an opportunity to do an Internship in America for a year. However, I got my dream job out of Cavan Institute which I am in right now. The tutors in CI are really kind and understanding. A PLC is definitely worth doing if you don’t know where to go from Leaving Cert."
