It is aimed at those wishing to build on basic skills or those wanting to learn the skill from scratch. The course fee includes a dummy cake, cake box and cake board, but all other course materials must be purchased or provided by the student. The tutor will give you clear guidance on the first evening on what to buy. These include good quality fondant, marzipan, balling tools, flower paste, fondant smoothening tool, modelling foam mat, plastic rolling pin and a small paintbrush. All additional cutters etc. will be available in the school, but you are welcome to bring along your own. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to confidently ice a cake to a professional standard, pipe with a high level of precision and definition, create a variety of modelling flowers and much more. It includes hands-on practice and will conclude with a final project and detailed course notes and practice sheets. You will learn the basics of the machine, from winding the bobbin, threading the machine and the different functions of the machine. You will also practice basic and decorative stitching using the machine and find out how to apply such stitches in creating garments and textile pieces.
