Cavan Institute Advances to Corn na Mac Léinn Semi-Finals
After a commanding 1-18 to 1-08 victory over Marino Institute of Education, Cavan Institute has officially secured its place in the semi-finals of the Corn na Mac Léinn Championship.
This prestigious tournament is a highlight of the third-level GAA calendar, forming a core part of Sigerson Week. Hosted this year by Dublin City University (DCU), the event brings together elite college teams from Ireland, Britain, and the USA.
The Rematch: Cavan Institute vs. Liverpool John Moores (LJMU)
Cavan Institute now faces a formidable challenge against Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). The Merseyside outfit enters the semi-final as British University Champions following a decisive victory over Liverpool Hope University in Glasgow.
There is "unfinished business" between these two sides.
They last met in the 2023 semi-final in Tralee, where LJMU narrowly edged out a win. This year, the Cavan squad is determined to set the record straight and chase their first title since the historic 2014 win over North West Regional College.
A Squad Rooted in Cavan Club Football
What makes this panel unique is its deep connection to the local community. The squad features players from 23 different GAA clubs, with 22 of those based within County Cavan.
This diversity highlights the exceptional coaching and talent development occurring at the club level across the county. From inter-county representatives to rising club stars, the panel represents the very best of Cavan football.
